PBKS end their losing rut! Take down Mumbai Indians

There was a slight fear around the 16th over mark when the dry ball and spin were causing troubles but KL Rahul and Chris Gayle have successfully navigated past it. What a fantatic win this is! They've gone from losing by nine wickets to beating the defending champions by the same margin - their best win over Mumbai Indians in the IPL. This win takes PBKS up to fifth and shows that MI are beatable this year.

IPL fifty #24 for KL Rahul
PBKS on course...

Interesting turn of events here. KL Rahul and Chris Gayle have put PBKS well on course, but something that happened in the 15th over should give Rohit some confidence. The MI bowlers were struggling with a wet ball because of the dew, but Gayle smashed one Jayant Yadav delivery for a six. The ball had to be replaced and out came a dry ball

Chris Gayle slow at the start...

The big West Indian has just 3 off 10 balls, but he has a superb record against MI...

Rahul Chahar removes Mayank Agarwal

There comes the first wicket. Rahul Chahar was getting the ball to turn quite a bit and Mayank saw it fit to go against the turn and hit him over the long fence. The connection wasn't good enough from Mayank, resulting in a catch for Suryakumar Yadav at long on. PBKS 53/1 in 7.2 overs.

PBSK fly off the blocks

Early pressure on Mumbai Indians here. Rohit Sharma, like KL, brought a spinner in for the second over but his opposite number turned it into a 15-run over. Jasprit Bumrah was in, in the 3rd over but Rahul got one six off the ace pacer too, albeit off a leading edge. Top start from the chasing side here.

MI finish with 131/6

Another day when MI's finishers have flattered to deceive. Ravi Bishnoi and Mohammed Shami finished with identical figures of 2 for 21. Deepak Hooda and Arshdeep Singh chipped in with a wicket each too. This is a good fightback after their massive defeat in the last game. They should now fancy themselves to chase this down comfortably, perhaps even think of giving their NRR a slight nudge.

Shami removes Hardik

Hardik Pandya's ordinary season continues. He goes for a big shot off Arshdeep but didn't get the distance. Deepak Hooda took a straightforward catch at long off. MI are now five down.

Rohit departs!

One wicket brings two for PBKS! And what a big one this time. Rohit flicked Shami's attempted yorker that became a low full toss towards the square leg fence, but Fabian Allen took a good catch to send the MI captain packing for 63 off 52. Over to MI's famed finisher duo of Hardik Pandya and Kieron Pollard, who are yet to light up the IPL this year!

Ravi Bishnoi breaks through!

Suryakumar is undone by his decision to go for a reverse sweep against Ravi Bishnoi. The PBKS leggie got the ball to bounce a little more than Suryakumar would've anticipated, and ended up top-edging the ball. Chris Gayle tracked back a little and completed a safe catch. MI down to 105 for 3 in 16.1 overs.

Not a bad idea to try and kill a chase before it gets into a tricky territory...
